The poetics of the operating room have always been of interest to me. I am fascinated with the human body, the mechanics of which were never meant to see light let alone be documented by my camera. I had been photographing in the medical field for two and a half years and found myself wanting to use photography and my experience in medical settings to make a greater impact. I began in Cambodia documenting the work of a medical non-government organization and have since traveled to Honduras and Brazil.
The documentation of the NGO, EMERGENCY, as well as the ICRC and the Mine Advisory Group. EMERGENCY hospital services land mine victims and other victims of war.
Documentation of the Ivo Pitanguy Clinic in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The clinic performs plastic surgery "for the low income population."
The documentation of a neurosurgery medical mission in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The medical group focuses on pediatric hydrocephalus.
